We just adopted Rumchata, she is such a nice dog. From the application process to the adoption we were informed of what was going on and felt we were treated great. We had a lot of \NO responses\ issues with our endeavors to adopt a rescue dog through OTHER places, but NOT here! Thank you MARS for the great experience!

After fostering our first rescue dog in March of 2020 we had a horrible experience with MARS. it started at pick up. I was told our foster would he ready at noon and continued to be told that it would just be a bit longer. I ended up waiting four hours to get our sweet foster pup. Once picked up we discovered she was bleeding (more than normal) and called about our concerns. They did not rush the appointment at all and told us we could take her in to be examined days later. Once dropped off I received a call that our foster needed to go into emergency surgery due to an infection from being spayed. I was a wreck. They then called me an hour later stating that she might not make it and my emotions were thrown into a loop. Thirty minutes later they called and started she made it. This was just the start. She continued to get infections on the surgical site and it was a continued issue. We finally agreed to adopt her once we thought the issues were clear, only to find out she was positive for heart worms. Although MARS tested her on site and her test came back negative, they never told us that it could take months to show on a test after being infected. We no longer trusted the MARS staff with our pup and decided to pay over 1500 for heartworm treatment out of pocket. We love our fur baby and are so grateful we were able to rescue her through MARS, but I would not recommend working with them. Extremely unprofessional and rude volunteers.

My second time wanting to adopt from them had bad experience. They don't return the phone calls and possibly discriminate against the age.

I rescued a puppy from here and he is an absolute sweetheart. This rescue has the best and purest of intentions, but is not well organized and very slow to respond. I was originally a foster for my dog, and he began having diarrhea a few days after. I called the vet to set up an appointment and it was like pulling teeth! I was so nervous for my little guy—I spent over 3 hours making calls trying to get someone to answer the phone and when they did, they were reluctant to see him. All I wanted was to make sure my pup was okay—I later found out he had giarrdia which is pretty common with rescued and easily treated—I just wish they would have taken him in sooner so I could have started him on those meds earlier. They treated me as if I was inconveniencing them with my puppy’s health issues. Since then, I have tried to email the rescue with questions about connecting with littermates amongst other requests, and every single email has gone uanswered. I still have an email from early December that has not been replied to yet and it is almost February. I send Facebook messages, emails, and absolutely nothing. It is frustrating that they do not bother to take the time to respond. Once again, it feels like I am inconveniencing them or bothering them. I do stand by the fact that this rescue has a fantastic mission and has provided safe homes to so many animals. It is just disappointing that once the dog is in your care, you get the silent treatment. All of my other friends who adopted through other rescues have never had this experience of not being responded to. Since then, I have transferred vet clinics and could not be happier. It is a relief to have a vet that will take my dog in immediately when he is sick or if I am worried—and answer my phone calls on the first ring! Thanks MARS for all that you do, I just wish I wouldn’t feel so in the dark and disconnected from them post adoption.

We adopted this beautiful puppy through them. They were great to work with and their vet services are excellent. They all did an amazing job even though arrivals were delayed and having to change processes due to COVID.
