I used to LOVE shadowbox and recommend it to everyone. I just started gong to the dumbo location when I loved to BK earlier this year. Unfortunately I think I’m going to have to stop going here. The last time I did a class as we were putting on our gloves the instructor (someone I never had before) came over and tightened my left glove and then immediately went to start the class. She didn’t adjust my right glove so I had 1 tight and 1 right. Without thinking I went right in to hitting the bag and I injured my left wrist. I went to the doctor and luckily it isn’t sprained or broken but I can’t use my wrist for at least 2 weeks. I don’t know this instructor did that, but it threw off my balance and force and I got injured. A part of me knows I should have stopped and taken off my gloves but it happened so fast. It just made me realize I should go to a boxing gym with one on one training as it’s so easy to injure yourself. That’s probably what I’ll do once my wrist is better. I wanted to share because I don’t think what she did was smart and made me really second guess the instructors.

Honestly one of the best boxing classes I have done in a long time. The focus on technique is good, with extra fine-tuning tips provided as well to more advanced clients (which is rare)! The gym itself has a hip and chilled vibe. Just be careful when you have a shower as the floor is very slippery.
Such a great workout and the studio is huge! Locker rooms are spacious with plenty of showers, counter space, hair dryers, and beauty essentials are provided.
Shadowbox is a great mix of boxing and cardio. They’re more technical and boxing heavy than other similar fitness concepts. They need to upgrade their mic system - it’s impossible to hear the coaches sometimes. Otherwise: tough class, great facility.
One of the best cardio workouts I’ve ever had. Locker rooms are top notch with 3 showers in the mens side. Could use more ab/core focus during the workout. Need more instruction from the coaches too.
So much fun! I live in the next neighborhood and had no idea this boxing gym was here. I'm very particular when it comes to gyms because I need the bathroom/shower facilities to be clean & organized. I usually do my workouts early in the morning or right after work so I need to be able to shower/dress there in comfort. The classes are about 55 minutes long and super fun but intense. I had so much fun that the time literally flew by! Super cute space with an actual gym ring as soon as you walk in.
The facilities are stellar, clean changing area and bright waiting area. The staff is very friendly, Andrew, Rubie, and Sandy chatted with people in waiting area. I took a session with Sandy and she is exceptional. Strong voice and motivating music selection to push us through the sweat dripping class. The room is dark so if you're new, ensure you can see your instructor as they guide you through the rounds. Be ready to dig deep as the instructor will motivate you, Sandy sure as heck did - continuosly reminding the class why we showed up and get at the bag. After class, Sandy chatted up with the attendees and thanked multiple people, displaying a care for follow up which is great to see. Plus there was someone to immediately clean the workout room, which adds to the facility being well maintained. Class was fun and challenging, be ready for the combo rounds and stamina checks both mental and physical.
The facility is nice, but I didn’t find the workout to be that challenging. I’ve taken 2 classes here and was disappointed that I didn’t feel like I got a thorough work out. While there are attempts made to do more than working with the punching bag, I was left wanting more. I also felt like there was zero focus on skill and it was hard to see the instructor to make sure I was working out correctly. I probably won’t be returning anytime soon.
