What a great beer selection! I visited Buffalo for a long weekend and came to the Blue Monk twice in one day. For lunch, the burgers are excellent as well as their duck frites. The food came out fast, although the waitress was a little slow moving (I'm thinking it was because we had a very large party for lunch, but she was seriously slow). Everything on the menu is very delicious and there are so many beer choices that you cannot go wrong--there is something for everyone! This place does get VERY crowded after work, so be prepared.

Fantastic! The menu is small but everything on it is cooked wonderfully. They supplement the small menu with an ever changing variety of specials, which are just as good if not better than their normal food. The beer is expensive, and completely worth the cost. You won't be finding a beer like this anywhere else. Well worth going to, it is a tad expensive. Also try all the fry dips. They are amazing. (By the way the service was perfectly fine, though we went early so they weren't to busy.)
Great beer selection! I was surprised at the west coast selection of beers. Melissa was fantastic, what a sweetheart! She was fantastic with tasters and advice.
awful service at the bar. insults and bad attitude by black hair girl with glasses added up to worst experience ever in 50 years of loving the bars and restaurants of buffalo.plenty of places with better food on the same street and my friends and I can find great bars just down the street
Great beer selection. Feels like a pretty crowded space. Was exceptionally loud, tough to hear the person right next to you. Nothing too special, aside from their good beer selection.
Terrible service (the waitress actually sarcastically explained to us that we had to order food since she brought us "these things called silverware and water". Then when we got our beers (after several not being available) they all arrived in little plastic disposable cups. What kind of proper beer bar doesn't use proper glassware?! Don't they know that affects the taste of these beers? On top of it all, it was unbearably hot and stuffy in there so at least we didn't stay long. Sad, sad showing for "one of the best beer bars". Don't waste your time.
Buffalo has many great places to eat bit this is one of my favorites! Blue Monk achieves the perfect balance between atmosphere, beer selection, tasty better than most bar food.
If you're looking for a fantastic beer selection. Don't bother reading about anywhere else. Just come here. Their selection is top notch and updated with expedient frequency. However, you will pay for it. This is not the place to go if you're looking for cheap drinks. They're quality, and you'll pay for it. More of a bourbon drinker myself it was nice to see Bulleit and Knob Creek and other more obscure mid-shelfers that other bars tend to ignore. Cool place to grab a drink at any time of night.
