Good for kids
I grew up in Buras and visited here by boat as a teenager pre Katrina. I fondly remember exploring an awesome old house on the property. Too bad it didn’t survive.

Great battlefield... the museum is very small but Mrs. Dickey is a great historian/ranger; she is definitely an expert on the battle and all the details. Even though it was raining we had a great time and she gave us a great oral account and can answer any question.
This place seems to be li'l mysterious. Good experience.
Those Bush people lol were my family and this was our home for quite a long time. The experience of living on this fort was quite special. Before Katrina there were 3 houses on the fort. Sadly they didn't survive. If you can make it across the river it is quite a sight to see. Though the fort is slowly sinking if you have never been it's worth the trip.
This place is somewhat a mystery, but as a kid my father took me hunting there and we met some bush looking people livin there it was cool.
