Good for kids
A great family friendly place to learn how to horseback ride and go for trail rides. I took weekly lessons with Ryan over the summer and went from barely knowing how to ride to going for an all day group ride by the end of the summer thanks to great instruction, amazing horses, and thoughtful planning. They have also been handling Covid very seriously and ensuring that all saddles and reins are wiped before every ride. Will be back next time I'm in the area!

What a life changing experience! Me and my girlfriend had never been horse back riding and our trip to the finger lakes seemed like a perfect chance to finally give it a shot. In my search for the perfect spot to try it out, i found most places around here require membership or at least for you to have riding experience. The staff at the painted bar stables were extremely helpful and take on beginners of all ages and help them with any questions they have. Pricing is very fair. We took the 1 hour scenic trail ride and it was fantastic! We got to ride horses through nearby woods and cross over and walk along a creek. We even got to see a buck resting in the woods. We had so much fun we booked a second ride 2 days later which was even better the second time because we had a better feel for how to ride. I highly recommend horse back riding here. My girlfriend and i cant wait to return in the spring to the area and book a longer ride!
We have ridden with Painted Bar several times over the past few years. Erika and her staff have always been especially professional and accommodating while also making sure the trail rides are enjoyable for all riders. We have taken two children on their first trail rides, adults with varying levels of experience, and even my 90 year old father in law; Painted Bar was able to match everyone with an appropriate horse. I look forward to our visits to Painted Bar Stables every summer!
Phenomenal place! We were a pair of one experienced rider and one complete beginner. The staff made us both feel very comfortable, provided excellent tips, put us on lovely horses who clearly enjoyed their job, and catered well to different skill levels. I would highly recommend this for non-riders to get out and see the foliage, and also for experienced riders who want a chance to do something a little different!
Great place to take the family for a day time event. Kids had no experience in riding horses. Owner was very personable and helpful in explaining the basics. Trails were easy riding and in the woods which was nice on a hot afternoon sun. They offer different ride times and trails based on experience levels. Kids had a great time and was told we were.doing again. Definitely worth your time. Thanks again to the wonderful staff.
