I was super excited when I booked this reservation as I had never been to an observatory before and it was a surprise for my husband. I did some research for the best observatory and and watched the weather all week for a perfect, cloudless night. We got there and the astrologist told us it would have been a perfect night had the moon not been out. The whole hour he went on and on about the moon being too bright and that we weren't gonna see much. We didn't get to see anything really and he showed us a power point that frankly I could have watched on youtube. He would not stop talking about the "giant light pollutant in the sky" and that we should have come another night. This may be an obvious thing for most people but I'm not an astrologist so the moon being too bright wasn't something I thought of. I was thinking the telescopes would be powerful enough that it wouldn't be a problem. I feel like this is something that should have been communicated on their website if it was so important. I was EXTREMELY disappointed after spending my money and driving out an hour. I wasted money on this only to be told to try again in the future. No I am not giving you my money again.

The observatory was dark and quiet, the man giving the speech was very informative but not for the kiddos, it was more entertaining for the adults who make smart remarks which the instructor didn’t seem to enjoy. Our kids fell asleep 15 mins in so bring a blanket because it was a bit chilly at night. Seats are limited and uncomfortable. You will learn something.

Great dark sky location. Jim the astronomer is brilliant and personable. We saw Mars, Jupiter, Saturn (with rings!), Uranus, and Neptune, as well as various stars and constellations. He explained things I never understood before and answered all of my crazy questions. It was a remarkable experience.

Awesome place. It’s like heaven. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the observatory. My wife and I were amazed by the mesmerizing view of the galaxy. We are definitely going to return specially for the skies.
