The atmosphere here is relaxing and the food is good. I personally love their sorrel, of which I drink several cups every time I visit. They have a beautiful layout and the patio is comfortable for events. The staff is extremely helpful and quick with orders. I enjoy my visits here and so have my friends.
First review ever! I'm normally a cut my losses type of girl but sometimes you have to take a stand. I was so excited to visit this place being from the West Indies and craving any little piece of home. It could have been a really fun birthday celebration night but turned bad real fast. Slow service. 8 shots that were really sweet no alcohol. Drinks arrived another disappointment. After spending an hour with nothing else to show for it we decided to cancel are order and salvage the night. Informed the manager that we were willing to pay for are 8 dollar shots but not the drinks since they were still on the table he preceded to call the officer on duty inside stating we were refusing to pay are bill which was 96 when it should have been 24 for all three shots. We went back and forth regarding the service and why I shouldn't pay for drinks that I didn't drink. Any way long story short the manager wanted to file charges with the DEA who wouldn't pick up the charge. I paid for the shots and vow never ever to step a foot in their establishment again.
We ate here last night with a party of 6. The wait staff was attentive and the food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious. There was a band playing and the music was really good and there were people up dancing. I would highly recommend this place.
The food was great, service was excellent, staff very friendly and decor was very nice. Liked the place, the only issue I experienced is that I ordered 3 additional slices of bread to finish my Calamari, when waiter served bread it was 4 slices and didn't think any of it. Most restaurant provide toast at no charge. However, when tab came in I was charged 7 for the toast. I had ordered sliders which come as 2 sandwiches equal to the same total of slices of bread and was only 6. I asked waiter if it was an error and he said no. Manager or owner needs to rethink the issue. I can't refer family or friends if they will be subject to outrageous prices for extra items. 3 days later I contacted manager regarding toast charge. He apologized as I did not ordet the appetizer bread, just a toast. He offered to refund the 7 or house credit. I chose the sore refund and went for lunch. The duck wings and chicken sliders are amazing.
it was a wonderful vibe. the staff are down to earth, cordial and amazing. even the chef came out to ask about the flavor. the rum punch was surprisingly delicious. too bad it's flavor is dependent upon the available fruits. it is hit or miss subject to the maker. the ground chicken curry sandwich was not very good though. it lacked flavor (bland) and it was overpowered by curry. I had to add salt and pepper to swallow. the jerk chicken sliders were phenomenal. I'll definitely visit again. great experience. the desserts were unsettling for me, tho. the dark cake tasted like it was flooded in liquid (rum) and the carrot (my favorite type of cake) was heavy, dense and tasted more bitter pie with sour after taste, than sweet cake. 2017 March: place is operating under a different name. No longer Calabash.... but some Icehouse, mostly same feel.
This place is OK. I love Caribbean food, it's like soul food to me and this place puts a twist on it that doesn't necessarily work. They have a delicious guyaba drink (I think that's what it's called) it's this milky thick drink made from this fruit that's delectable. That was the highlight of my experience. Also, they do advertise that they're open late, however, it's not a full menu late at night.
Great place, had the came in hungry order on the wharf. I ate everything best stew fish ever the sauce was omg. Will recommend to anyone.
