The directions led to a dead end as far as I could tell. Had a 4WD but couldnt figure out where to take it from here :)

There’s a dead end at the end of the road. Google Old Mud Pots and follow those directions instead.
No trespassing signs on the road leading to the pots. I wasn’t about to risk it, but it seems to be very extensive judging by being able to see the steam from rock hill at the sonny bono NWR.
Trail to new mud pits is totally flooded. No way to get there even by 4x4. Go see the old mud pits instead.
You will need a four wheel drive to get to the mudpots, which we did not have. Apperantly there used to be mudpots at Davis and shrimpf intersection, but while we could smell some activity, none of the mud areas were bubbling.
Fascinating! The directions were a little iffy but I did get to see the lion's share of what I came to see. It's nature in flux!
