This is a lovely historic home. It's not very old (built 1893, which is a few decades after our family home) by many historical ideas but for California, that's pretty old. They clearly updated everything in like 1915-28 teen-thru-twenties period based on the latches and make of the cabinetry but it's a lovely place. Lots of family history remains and that's always what makes a place interesting. They get a bit nervous with kids and tried talking in code about doing the tour different because we had a 6 year old but this 6yo is super sharp so knew just what they meant. She was fine but still can't get over that the play room for kids was in an attic she couldn't see. But she was thrilled by the doll houses, including one she could play with! The TREES! You need to see these unique and massive trees. You probably never saw these types and certainly not this variation in one place. It's lovely.

Finally went to the famous picture taking spot in Los Angeles it's actually near a few art museums where you need to pay to enter, but at the lights you don't really need to pay for them. You would only need to pay for parking if you're using theCamarillo Ranch parking garage or if you want to enjoy the nice artwork.

A really nice venue. Close enough to get to; but seems like it is away from the hussle of daily life.

This grand three-story, 15-room home was built by Adolfo Camarillo in the Queen Ann Victorian style, using the plans of architects Herman Anlauf and Franklin Ward. The home features seven bedrooms, a grand staircase, a tower bay, a walk-in wooden refrigerator, wrap-around exterior balcony, hardwood floors, and turrets. The exterior and interior of the house were restored by the City of Camarillo and the Camarillo Ranch Foundation during 1999-2001. The grounds are open 9-5 daily, house tours are 12-3 Sat-Sun-Mon, closed holidays and during private events. This property is now a popular wedding venue. It is on the National Register of Historical Places; a California Point of Historic Interest; and Ventura County Landmark No. 8.
