The first time when I came to this restaurant for lunch I tried spicy seafood and it was the best. With same expection I again came to try the spicy seafood. I was the worst of all broth was not at all spicy it just tasted like water with salt, noodles was not cooked and the presentation of the noodle seemed like it wasn't tasty. Henced after eating it was proved. The food didn't have consistency. I am very disappointed. Not coming back for spicy seafood noodles anymore.

As a Japanese shabu (hotpot) restaurant freshness in the ingredient is a must. Aikai Ryu ingredients are average. There were some items that looks excellent but some were less fresh. They do have a good selection of broth. However, unlike other shabu restaurants, you cannot get regular broth, which is typically free of charge. The restaurant also serve other kinds of food such as yakitori, sushi/ maki, and hot/ cold appetizer. I have tried the yaki octopus balls and very disappointed. It feels as if it was made from frozen aisle. They also fried it and not yaki style. Price is on the higher side comparing to the more established shabu restaurant in town. The combos are more expensive and free broth is not included, which adds another 3 -5. I would not recommend this restaurant if you want some good shabu.

I really enjoyed the all you can eat shabu shabu. Unfortunately, it looks like this place is indefinitely closed

Where you can find excellent short-rip and chicken herbal broth, I dare to say AkaiRyu Shabu Sushi, righte cross the Porter T-station, Cambridge. A-must try shabu restaurant.
