First I want to start by saying the lady who runs the rescue really does care about the animals and tries to save as many as she can- I respect her for that, as it cannot be an easy task. However, with that said, I think she is a little in over her head. I got my dog about six months ago, and while I love him, he has cost me over 10,000 in vet bills. To start with, he came home to me with an severe infestation of fleas as well as crippling separation anxiety, both of which were unknown to the rescue. The rescue did share that he was abused in the past, so the separation anxiety wasn’t a huge surprise even though I point blank asked about any issues and medical conditions. Finally, my dog has chronic GI issues that the rescue knew nothing about. He had to get emergency surgery for his stomach flipping over (this is honestly something the rescue has no way of knowing) 11 days into me owning him. But aside from that, he is constantly throwing up or having diarrhea despite countless vet visits. He is on special food (read ), and still the poor dog cannot stay healthy. From his history of abuse, I can guess that he had GI problems long before I got him, as every time he throws up, he cowers in the corner afraid I am going to hit him- which makes me think this was a common event in his old home. So please, don’t stop adopting dogs but give it serious consideration and potentially let a few weeks pass between meeting the dog and adopting to ensure there are no health issues that the rescue knows nothing about.

The place itself needs a lot of work and it stunk really badly when you first walked in. But the people there really really care and they work so hard to find these guys good homes. I heard they're going to renovate soon, which is great. We got our baby Chubbs there and he's been a handful and a blessing. They got him off to a great start for us and they're great with all their babies. Would definitely recommend them for adoptions. Do not pass them up.
We couldn’t have picked a better rescue! We are so thankful for all of the hard work Shell does for these sweet babies. We adopted our baby from her in April and Shell has been great about keeping up with us when it comes to our sweet Josie. We love canine castaway!
This rescue is doing wonderful things for animals that need help. It takes a special person to put in the time and energy that is required for rescuing animals. This rescue is loving, caring for, and giving these animals a second chance at enjoying life. Thank you for all that you do!
This place smells SO bad. All the dogs are left outside. I’m thankful the owner is trying to rescue and help animals in need, but I would never adopt here again. The woman is so completely unorganized, she was TELLING me, (not asking) to do things for her like I was a volunteer for her and I simply was there with my sister who was adopting. This place will get at least 2 stars only because the puppy my sister got is precious.
