We have come to the Cape for Christmas for almost 10 years now. This is our first time with Cape & Coast. We got a call when we were two hours away saying they discovered a flooding issue in our home after the prior guests left. We arrived as the maintenance people were assessing and it was clear we could not stay there without significant disruptions. They quickly found us a comparable home that was fortunately available and we had a fantastic week in our favorite vacation spot. I appreciated the professional way they handled the situation, which they did not create, and made sure our vacation was not interrupted. I would recommend!

We did not have a good experience with Cape & Coast. There were many maintenance problems with the property we rented (Ocean Song) the first week in June. Among them were safety issues, including a rusted door handle that sliced open my hand. I reported this immediately and sent in pictures. They did not respond. I subsequently called the office twice and requested a call back. No one ever called me back. Additional issues that I reported included: unusable sliding doors, half the stove did not turn on, exposed nail heads on the deck, and broken blinds on the main door to the beach, which required us to hand roll the blinds.

See Update below: I almost never write these type posts but I am very frustrated with my Cape and Coast Vacation Rentals experience to date so I wanted to vent a bit. We booked a week at the end of April prior to the Coronavirus situation. We later decided to push our reservation back a week and we paid the small difference in price of around 100. Shortly thereafter I noted our original week, and several other weeks, had been discounted making it about 1,100 less than our new week (one week apart). I'm sure they are getting a lot of cancellations because of the outbreak but I thought surely they would allow me to switch back to my original week for the new savings and not penalize me for having booked my reservation early. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I was told that if I moved back a week I would be charged the former (higher) rate and only new bookings can be made at the discounted rate. I feel this is very punitive, especially for someone who is still planning to travel (God willing) and comes to the Cape every year. We have been good repeat guests for the rental companies at the Cape for the past 25 years and this is the first time we have run into this sort of situation. If they show more flexibility and allow me to re-book at the new discounted rate I will happily post to let everyone know they are great to work with. If they stand firm then at least others may be able to benefit from the knowledge gained through my experience. UPDATE: Cape and Coast came through and did not withhold our deposit when our rental week was canceled due to the Coronavirus. After this good news we decided to re-book for a week this September so I am amending my earlier review.

Stayed the week of Christmas. House had been misrepresented in so many ways! Had bay access. NO. Don’t bother with kayak unless you can haul it to the park. 5 minute walk to beach. NO at least 10 more like 15. Closest beach access was CLOSED. You must go out on main road to get to any beach access. NOT easy access at all. Beach cart had flat tire. Oven didn’t work staff brought a turkey cooker and a counter top toaster oven which was at least an effort. One toilet took 3 days to fix. Curtains had dog urine on them. House had fire pit. NO. House had beach chairs. NO. The list goes on and on. Do not rely on website descriptions on their houses as they aren’t anywhere close to being correct.
