My family has hosted close to 20 exchange students since 1997, hosting through four different organizations in three states. BFF has been the best BY FAR. The team at BFF cares deeply about both the exchange student AND the host family (as opposed to other organizations we've worked with), and always operate very carefully and ethically (ditto). BFF's coordinators are easy to work with, BFF comes up with fun events and trips for the students, and the team reacts instantly when there's a problem. BFF also does what they can to ensure their exchange students stay engaged, avoid homesickness, make American friends, and have a great experience overall. We were impressed with how the BFF team handled the COVID situation, when students were required by authorities to leave ASAP. BFF worked extremely hard to make sure each student had a safe trip home—even as countries were closing their borders and airlines were canceling flights. We were sad that our student had to leave early, of course, but BFF handled the situation expertly and quickly. Thank you, BFF, for showing how it should be done—and for making the exchange experience a positive one for us, our students, and the community!

I first came across a flyer for BFF the summer of 2016. They were looking for host families for the summer students from France & Spain. I had always wanted to host so I contacted them and got the process started. The director, Crystal, followed up with me immediately and my family ended up hosting Gabriel from Tours, France. We had such a wonderful experience that I ended up hosting for the school year as well as working as an advisor. Since that first summer, I've gained an international family. Crystal, Azah and Heather in the BFF office are easy to work with and some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. BFF truly loves working with the students & families. They create lifelong friendships and promote cultural understanding.

I had the pleasure of being a Community Advisor for 3 years with BFF and hosting 2 students. I would still be with them but my new job working with foster children doesn't afford me the time to do it. I miss it greatly. BFF and all of it's staff are wonderful people who care deeply for the students and the host families. They provide immediate assistance whenever needed. They make sure that students are safe, happy and have a wonderful experience while in the US. They plan trips to places like New York City, Washington DC etc to give the students an opportunity to experience these amazing places. I HIGHLY recommend BFF to anyone who is interested in hosting or being a Community Advisor!

We were able to re-host a student after his first family's situation changed. The staff of BFF was friendly and engaging and very professional. They guided us through all the necessary paperwork and interviews required to host our student. We all feel this was a very positive experience for our family as well as the exchange student and finally the BFF staff, who we still maintain contact with even though we are not slated for any more students. I would unreservedly recommend BFF for anyone looking to experience a foreign exchange student.

We first got to the know the staff at BFF in 2016 when our family last minute decided to host a short-term student from a France. We were impressed how much effort they put into getting to know us and the teen, and how closely they followed up with her (and us!) once she arrived. The experience was amazing. We now have a French daughter who has come to visit us every year. We were hoping to host her whole family this year, but COVID got in the way. We have branched out to school year hosting, because BFF has shown us that our family wasn’t quite yet complete. COVID has delayed those plans, but we hope to meet our new son in person soon. If you’ve ever thought about expanding your hearts with an exchange student, BFF should be your first consideration.

We hosted a lovely girl from Kyrgyzstan during the 2018-2019 school year. The application process was thorough but painless and we got pointed to a student who was a perfect fit. If we had issues, they were addressed right away, communication with our community advisor was always fast and efficient and my young daughter loved having a "big sister". We look forward to working with this organization again in the future!

We have worked with BFF since 2015 and have wonderful experiences! We have hosted five students who have become like family to us. The staff has been very professional and makes every effort toward students having a positive and authentic experience, while also supporting host families as they welcome students into their homes. I highly recommend!

As a first time host parent, BFF guided me through the process and offered me support and information that made my experience beautiful and life changing. My community advisor was outstanding and very responsive to my needs and questions. I would recommend this agency to any individual and/or family interested in hosting an exchange student.
