Friday fish fry this past weekend. My wife and I had wanted to try Hickory Hall for several months and the first opportunity did not disappoint. Servers were attentive, both at the front bar and in the dining room. I ordered perch, my wife, the baked cod and potato pancakes for both. Cole slaw was creamy, fresh and a little sweet. Bread basket was appreciated. Well prepared meals. Manhattans were generous. The dining room filled up by 5:15 p.m. Great dinner for two with drinks for 50. Well worth it.

Inside is great, nicely remodeled, the outside looks like you could be mugged & murdered in the parking lot. Wedding couples beware of the contract. Read everything closely. You should not be responsible for hiring Police or security for a venue that has had previous problems. You are not responsible for the insurance problems of the venue. Beware.

I made reservations for my sister's birthday for the high tea. There were three of us and it was on October 20th. We had never been there before so we were excited to find a high tea in the suburbs. It was very pretty and the tables were set with white tablecloths. It was the waitresses first day working there so she really wasn't sure about some things. There was only one place setting on the table and we had to ask a couple of times for two more settings. The choices of beverage were coffee, iced tea or a tea bag. No loose tea or tea pot. Each guest gets to pick from four finger sandwiches. They were ok. This is where the problem is, the scones were dry and way to dense and the pastries were store bought from Sam's Club or Jewel. They were terrible. For 29.95 per person, I expected homemade food. Even for a suburban tea, it was not worth the money. I suggest going downtown and having a real \high tea\ where everything is homemade and fabulous. This was a very costly disappointing experience.

Just a ho hum place, nothing too fancy. Food was unappealing to say the least. The noodles left a bad taste in my mouth.
