Being nominated in the first place was such an honor. I was the person who took the compliments of thhe people back to the Governance and the sub advisory board co chair. I became the voice of the people who were living in our communities. Some board memers had no clue of what we had to live with on a daily basis. The programs that work and the programs that ddont work at all... In doing so i got even more involved to help others. Mostly by just sharing my life and the struggles i had to overcome. One of the bigest problems people have.still todais AFFORDABLE Housing most have legal issues aling with their mental. One must be off paper for 7 years to. Qualify for low rent hoursing. So we got a new program called plugged in iowa and they help the ones navigate their way through the system and the programs that are out there to help them.and who better to do this then the Peers who had first hand experience.
