I'm from Ohio doing a travel nursing assignment in Yuma. As a tOSU PGM grad I drove to Chandler to play, from what I can tell, is the only public Nicklaus course in the area. I was hoping to play both the executive and championship courses, one this afternoon and one in the morning I play 18 holes in less than two hours. Slow golf is a big reason I left the golf business. Life is too short to play five hour rounds I didn't have too much hope for getting in 18 this afternoon, but figured I would try. When I was told I probably wouldn't make it before sunset, I figured I could at least get the first tee time and zoom around before anyone knew I was there Fortunately they don't send people off both nines. Unfortunately they wouldn't let me play as a single. As a travel nurse I don't feel comfortable playing with other golfers, especially old ones So I guess I won't get to play the Nicklaus course after all. Pace of play is a huge problem and Covid only compounds that issue for me. I know there is a lot of entitlement in this review but for a course designer who advocates for quicker golf, I'd hope the course management would be on the same page O-H!

I like the layout! Little to no shade. Everytime I play this course it isn't in good shape. Greens are consistent but the rest of the course is all over the place. I play it because it is the right price for the quality you get.
We caught a hot deal on GolfNow for 65. Good course for the money. Yes, it's a little rough in places, but it's a very playable course. Loved the greens.
I’ve played both courses a few times and like the layout on both courses. The staff is always friendly. The range is huge and the other practice areas are also pretty big. There is practically no shade on this course so be aware of that if you want to play in the summer. The greens have been ok since reseeding, a little patchy. Last time I went they had pushed back all the tee times and closed the practice areas due to frost. It’s kind of annoying because I played another course down the road the day after and they just do cart path only until 8 am because of frost, and the course was in better shape than Bear Creek. Also, the pace has always been very slow when I played there. There are lots of retirees and walkers, so be ready for that. Last time I played the bear I didn’t even have time to play all 18, made it through 13 in 3 1/2 hours. No marshal to be seen. Got up to the tee box and the group ahead of us was waiting for the next who was still teeing off. Not really a knock on the course, it’s just the course is near a big retirement area so not great for faster paced players
Great beginner par 3/par 4 course. Brought 3 new golfers out and the club house was very accommodating with great rates on rental clubs. Would recommend for anyone wanting to improve their short iron play or just starting out the game
