I was looking for a place to fix my daughter's Quinceanera dresses. Her long dress had gold appliques and was too wide on the chest area. Her short dress was also a little wide in the chest area and was too long. I was worried that the dresses would get messed up with the alterations that I needed. Julie did an amazing job in fixing her long dress and shortening her other dress while keeping the gold appliques and the frilly hem intact. I was very impressed by her professionalism, timeliness, and beautiful work. I would definitely recommend J Alterations!

Hands down the best shop for your basic to most complicated alterations in the DMV! If you're not picky about your clothes, don't care about the longevity of your garments and could care less about how close to the original your alterations will be completed then this is NOT your place. I am extremely picky and have spent on my wardrobe and will not let your average shop touch my clothes. Julie, however, is the only tailor I will work with when it comes to alterations of my bespoke suits and luxury garments (think Thom Browne, Belstaff, Burberry, etc.) If you're going to invest on your clothes, why in the world would you take them to a shop that does not understand your style, needs AND the construction of your garments? Gentlemen, trust Julie and her team on your suits! From shortening the sleeves at the shoulder to removing the dreaded collar roll, she's an expert! Like women's dresses, men's suiting is complicated and this is the shop for your tailoring/alteration needs. Understanding proportions, fabrics and drape are just a few differentiators between Julie and other shops. Trust me (see my suit collection as proof that I'm a true menswear sartorialist) and YES - Julie was behind several of these pieces!

After some Google searching for locations to get my dress altered, I came upon J’s Alterations. First impression, this location is well maintained and very clean. This business adhered to all COVID-19 safety precautions during my visit. It was extremely easy to communicate with the Julie and set up an appointment to get my wedding dress altered. Upon my arrival, I changed into my dress and stepped up on the mirrored platform for the alterations. The entire process took approximately 15 minutes. I got my dress hemmed a few inches and the bust taken in a bit. It took Julie and her staff about a week or less to alter my wedding dress. I was and am extremely happy with how everything came out. I would highly recommend J’s Alterations for any service involving dry cleaning and alterations.
