The new location in Ballantyne is excellent with plenty of space and extra restrooms. The center now has a seperate room which can be used for analysis or for reading books in the library. The main playing area is equipped with all the equipment necessary for lectures and tournament play. If you are a tournament chess player or just want to learn some new moves you will not be disappointed with the Charlotte Chess Center and Scholastic Academy.

I stopped by today to see what this place was all about and I was very impressed. They not only allow beginners like me to play chess and hear lectures but they also host some of the biggest tournaments in the area. This is such a cool place!

I always have a super great experience at the chess center. While I love open fun chess on Friday nights, the Tournaments are one day, mostly on Saturdays. On Tuesdays we get top notch lecturers: I mean like IGMs Alexander Shabalov, Ben Finegold, John Fedorowicz, plus NMs Peter Giannatos and Dominique Myers. And then on to Game 90. Love it!!!
