This last week has been filled with an overwhelming amount of emotions and challenges. We are beyond grateful to have the most incredible dance families. The health and safety of our dancers and families are of the utmost importance to us. After much discussion, the Charlotte School of Ballet has made the following decisions in response to the COVID-19: The Charlotte School of Ballet will be closed Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29th. At this time, we plan to re-open Monday, March 30th. We will remain OPEN during our originally scheduled spring break week, April 10 – 18, with the exception of Easter weekend Friday 4/10 through Sunday 4/12. This year, for the first time, we scheduled to hold classes an additional two weeks after the recital. With these additional two weeks of classes, holding classes spring break week, and the additional recital rehearsals, dancers will receive a full year of classes. Please feel free to make up classes in another class of the same or similar level if you desire. The two weeks of classes after the recital will be a great opportunity for any make up classes, or an opportunity to try a new style of dance. We know there are many more questions and details to communicate to our CSB families. We are working through these now and will be sending additional information to you via email as soon as possible. We thank you for your trust and we look forward to being back together in our classes and rehearsal as soon as possible. Sincerely, Bridget Porter Young The Charlotte School of Ballet welcomes YOU The Charlotte School of Ballet is a classical ballet school located at 627 South Sharon Amity in Charlotte, NC. We offer training to everyone who has an interest in the art of dance. Classes are primarily based on curricula from The Cecchetti Council of America and The Royal Academy of Dance. The school was founded in 1968 by Gay Porter, offering the finest of training for young students through the professional level. Training begins with the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, one that is used successfully in eighty-two countries throughout the world, and continues into the Cecchetti Method. Non-syllabus classes are an important part of the student’s training also. Guest teachers are often brought in, to work with the advanced students during the year. Additionally, classes are also offered in tap, jazz, modern dance and Classical Spanish dance by experts in their field. Students are not required to have any prior experience in ballet or any other form of dance in order to take classes at the Charlotte School of Ballet. The only necessity is the desire to learn!
