I have been having knee issues for a long time. It has been time to do something. The ongoing cortisone shots are not working as well. I have had meetings with other orthopedics and have not felt comfortable with the appointments. Two other appointments with polar opposite results. My son who had a great experience with Dr. Nielsen told me to give him a call, because he was awesome in dealing with his elbow issues and surgery. Arrived, the intake person and the nurse taking the X-rays and other information were very pleasant. Met with Dr. Nielsen regarding my knee issues. We chatted about my concerns, he showed me the results of the X-rays and immediately recognized Dr. N and I were on the same page, looking for alternatives for knee functionality without surgery. Very important to me. He listened and I am exceptionally excited about the possibilities. He understands my concerns.

I had a great experience concerning this appointment. I was given an appointment either the day I phoned in or following. This is most unusual and most beneficial to the patient. My concerns were acknowledged by the practitioner and exam was pain free with managed results. A practitioner explained and I was given all information needed. My visit was overall pain free with treatment. Thank-you Charlottesville Orthopedics!

Dr. Nielsen has done three surgeries on me, including a total shoulder replacement. I have found him to be professional and he never rushes you through an appointment. Each time I have needed to go in for surgery, he pulls out his tablet and shows me in great detail what the issues are and how they need to be treated to fix the problem. I love that he uses humor and real conversation when he explains what is going on. I am always pleased with the fact that he gives me a realistic view of what is fixable and what will probably still be an issue. I feel very comfortable with this surgeon. I also have seen Natalie on two occasions. She is great. She explains issues in detail and gives you a clear idea of what can be done. Her personality is laid back and relaxed and this puts the whole appointment on positive footing. I have had to go through twenty-four surgeries so I do my homework before going in to surgery with anyone. Dr. Nielsen is a good choice.
