This place was great. Learned so much. But what capped it off was a gentleman sitting in the room full of masks. Had a long talk about the origin of the Cherokee tribe and his history. Very heartfelt and lovely conversation. He made the whole experience amazing.

A must visit if you are passing through Cherokee- very well articulated documentation of the Cherokee history; some of the staff members are Cherokee, and they are more than happy to answer your questions and share their valuable insights. The Museum also has a big souvenir shop with a great collection of gift items.
This was my favorite part of our whole trip! The gentleman we spoke to (who is a member of The Warriors of Anikituhwa Cherokee) really made the trip for us. Just listening and learning from his perspective was amazing. Will absolutely come here again.
Very good experience. Plan on spending a couple of hours at least. It is informative but there is a lot of reading and few hands on items. Young children may become bored.
Due to COVID we couldn’t visit, but I did make sure to see artist Peter Toth’s Sequoyah — one of his 72 Whispering Giants. Many other nice places to see in Cherokee. And you’re only a couple of miles from Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
