Purchased river rock from Tidewater Mulch & Material to put in our front flower beds. While loading the river rock in my truck the employee dumped over half of a front loader of rock down the side of my truck causing significant damage. When brought to managements attention they said it could just be \buffed out.\ I got an estimate from the dealership body shop for the damages for 1400. When I brought the estimate back to Tidewater they said they would give it to the owner and be back in touch. Several days later I get a call from the owners wife. She informs me that they are not at fault but they would repair the damage as a courtesy. She gave me a number for someone to call to repair the damage. When I called the person he gave me a door number as an address. I asked what the name of his company was and he said he did not have one, this was just a side job. He was not licensed or insured. I called the owners wife back and requested that the repair be done at an actual business. I was informed that this was not an option, that they would repair the truck onsite or not at all. I ended up having to file a claim with my insurance company who then filed a claim with Tidewater's insurance company. Tidewater's insurance company reached out to me, apologized for how Tidewater had handled this situation and covered the repairs in full. Bottom line, do not support a business that has zero ethical practices and could care less about their customers or staff.
