Well kept stables. I haven't ridden here for years but it has a good reputation in the neighborhood and I've known teen girls who enjoyed their lessons here.

Our daughter is in her second year of riding at Meadowbrook and I've been impressed by the quality of the instruction and kindness of the teachers to beginning riders. The location is also much more convenient for us compared to other options.

I signed up to take riding lessons about 4 years ago. I have not written a review until now because I was afraid of backlash from the stable, as they were not very polite or professional about the situation that happened to me. I feel as though enough time has passed that I can finally write a review. One lesson I was assigned to ride a horse named Princess. Upon approaching her stall she pinned her ears back and was nipping at me. As I slowly approached her in her stall she started to try and kick me with her hind leg. I took her out of her stall and put her on the cross ties and it got worse. She was able to nip and grab skin, resulting in a wound, and she continued to try and kick me with her hind legs. I told the people working in the office and the instructor that I was not comfortable riding this horse, as I was wounded by her and she was so agitated and aggressive I could not get her saddle on. The office and the instuctor both told me that if I did not ride the horse I was assigned I was NOT going to ride at all! As someone who has taken lessons for 10 years (due to my profession I have had to live in various states, I was only at this barn for a few weeks when this incident occurred) I found it very unprofessional and very rude to the customer that they would force someone to ride a horse they were not comfortable riding! I have never seen this in my life. I am a mother who has children to take care of and bills to pay; you sign a release to ride, which, among many things, says they are not responsible if anything happens, so of course they don't care if the horse is dangerous, they won't be responsible when you get hurt and they still get their money. Luckily for me, I am not financially or horse crazyily desperate enough to have been bullied by them to still ride Princess. So I said fine then, I won't ride today, and I am never returning to your stable. I put Princess back in her stall, got in my car, and drove away - never to return. Unacceptable.

Meadowbrook is the ideal riding facility in DC. The location cannot be beat for those living or working around the DC metro. The trainers and barn managers are supportive and knowledgable, knowing exactly how to meet the needs of riders and horses. Meadowbrook supports beginner riders (children or adult) through advanced riders looking to compete in rated shows. Lessons are at convenient times for children and adults, and groups are organized to ensure each rider is progressing in his/her knowledge of riding and horsemanship. The horses are exceptionally well cared for, and the barn is clean and well maintained. I highly recommend Meadowbrook to any riders looking to learn the basics, advance their skills, or take their riding to the next level.

I started riding since I was a kid. When I moved to this area I started looking for an equestrian I tried around 7 or 8 places in MD and VA to find a good place with good horses. The good thing about Meadowbrook is the vicinity to my place. They also have several horses which you can choose from. However, the facility (mainly staff) wont allow you to enjoy riding here or using some of the benefits. Main thing I noticed was the fact that there is no one responsible in this place, I went there to schedule lessons, there was a girl in the office I think her name was Allie (very unwelcoming person) told me about the schedule and other things, then later another day another person told me totally different things. Actually I noticed that here I need to deal with a bunch of unprofessional immature people with sort of passive aggressive personality. One other big issue here was the scheduling. Apparently I had to pay for 32 weeks in advanced (one lesson a week) and I wouldn't be able to reschedule more than once. Which means if I cannot make lessons on that specific time, I will loose it. And the fee for each lesson is more than other places that I have been. That makes it very awkward. And of course there is no indoor arena. Some of the instructors seem friendly and some of them are totally unpleasant. I found a private barn which is much better than this place and started riding there.
