I’ve gone to Gerstein for over 10 years now. The staff when I first started was very pleasant and hands on to solve situations. Although I should have gone else where in recent years, I continued to travel out my way to be serviced by Gerstein Jr. and staff. Within this last year and a half, I think that I had enough!! I’v been treated very poorly with service. It takes many attempts to get a hold of the billing department, even if messages are left no one returns the calls. Not all of his clerk are rude, but a few in general are terrible. I’ve never had these many problems within the many years and will possibly end my relationship soon. I like Gerstein a lot, but this staff is showing me that I’m no longer needed.

I'm not sure if they don't know what they are doing when it comes to insurance or if they are trying to get more money than they should. Either way, when it comes to billing and insurance they are incompetent. I confirmed with my insurance what my coverage is and found Dr. Gerstein as an in-network provider per my insurance. We made appts and when we got there, they told me my insurance didn't coverage things like refraction (the entire point of getting an annual eye exam for glasses) and I would have to pay additional out of pocket for that. What should have been a 15 co-pay for the visit, they wanted to charge me 85. When we asked about our coverage for contacts and glasses they told me it wasn't covered either. Needless to say, I left without having my appt and immediately called my insurance. They confirmed with me my coverage and that Dr. Gerstein was in network. I let them know what happened and reported them to my provider. Before going, double check what they are going to charge as you could be wasting your time or paying more than you should.

Disrespectful and ignorant staff, refused to see a patient due to language barrier

My wife and I were disappointed with the service at this practitioner office. We were told to arrive 15 minutes early to make out forms, which we did. We completed the forms before our appointment time and then after some time, in an off handed manner, were told that there would be an additional charge that was not covered by !medicare or our insurance company. Then we’re we left waiting for another twenty minutes before we asked when we would be called to see the doctor - a full half hour after our appointment. The staff didn’t seem to care very much, so we told the staff that we were cancelling our appointment and were leaving. Additionally, parking was difficult to find. And, although there was dedicated parking, we had to drive around and only just happened onto a lot that looked like it was for patients of this clinic (Not signed as such although it had lots of signs saying that if parked there without permission, you could be towed for 225.00. Not a very user friendly, comfortable experience. They know how to charge what they feel they are entitled to, but don’t seem to know how to make things more welcoming to their new patients.
