My favorite bar in all of Chicago. They have a few beers they rotate out every so often, so you're bound to find something to enjoy. And the bartenders are wonderful! Very friendly and helpful when it comes to making a choice about trying a new brew. Everyone who loves a good pub should stop by and get a few beers here!

We love Gideon Welles. The food is great, back room is awesome for parties (pre/post-covid times obviously), and the staff is great. The patio is covered and heated for winter. They give back to so many local schools and organizations, they are a true community partner.

Gideon Welles has always been a solid neighborhood choice. Good beer selection, better than average \bar food\. Today they excelled. We went this afternoon to grab a beer, sitting outside while we can on a 40-degree afternoon. The owner came by and asked if we wanted the heat lamp on as the afternoon temp started to dip, and we enthusiastically said yes. I made a suggestion about the metal seats (some sort of cushion or something to insulate between our butts and the cold metal! - those metal seats hold the cold), he appreciated the feedback and said he'd be back. He came back with new blankets, in packaging, for both of us! That is an owner who gets hospitality. These are the places we all need to support, the neighborhood spots who are fighting for their lives, and who make the small adjustments that mean so much. We are all lucky to have Gideon Welles as our neighborhood spot.

Cozy neighborhood pub, has a good draft list and menu of burgers, salads, sandwiches. The prices are very reasonable you can get some of the sandwich and fries for 10-11. The Reuben I had was excellent and the Mac n cheese w short rib is outstanding as well. Bar opens up to more seating on the other side. Touch tunes here and plenty of tvs if trying to catch a game.
