Everything was great. The food was ferociously tasty. We all loved the limeade drink. It's awesome! The service was topnotch. I was particularly thrilled with the cleaning techniques.

Visited Irazu for the 1st time yesterday 3.18.21. I had no idea there was a Costa Rican restaurant in the Chicago area and when I found out, I couldn't get there fast enough. (I don't live in Chicago, I live 2 1/2 away) Let me just say; it was home away from home. Food and service was excellent! Henry is great, he recommended the tamarindo with pineapple juoce and it was delicious. My mom, daughter, and I all had un casado..which also was delicious. I am very happy to have found this place, being Costa Rican myself I know the flavor and this is as close as it gets to home. Irazu has gained 3 returning customers for sure! When you're in the Chicago area Irazu is a must and don't forget to pick up a t-shirt while you're at it.. Saludos desde Port Byron, IL. #3Generations #Pura Vida #Irazu #CostaRica

If you’re ready to try a great dining experience you must go to Irazu, 1865 N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago. We dine there whenever we are in the city. All the entree’s that we have tried are delicious. And the oatmeal shakes are fantastic. The food is traditional made with fresh ingredients. The staff is professional and courteous. Try it, you’ll love the food.

5 stars for food, 1 for service. My takeout order was taken by someone else. Had to wait a ridiculous amount of time (40 minutes)....they did give me a slice of cheesecake for my trouble

This place is full of life. The ambiance is what I remember most. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth. Their Costa Rican cuisine was a first for us and it did not disappoint. The flavors were a bit different then any other Caribbean or Central American food I have ever tried, yet it tasted very much homemade. Definitely a bustling place so anticipate a wait. Near public transportation. Definitely worth a visit.

I like the location, service and ambiance. Food is bland. I ordered the chicken burrito and salsa and I don't think they even added salt to it. The burrito was completely dry. Their empanadas are decent.

Last night I had a delicious takeout meal from Irazu. Their skirt steak dinners are amazing! They have decided to remain takeout and delivery only. Please support them! I have been going there for 20 years. The Cerdas family is the best!

Started with Shrimp Ceviche which was amazing because it had chopped jumbo shrimp or prawn instead of small, less tasty shrimp. Definitely a must for shrimp lovers alike. Another appetizer must is the Chifrijo with Chips. Fried pork layered with whole black beans, white rice, pico de gallo and topped with avocado, and the Lizano sauce on the side. Crunchy pork makes for a great starter. The assortment of empanadas never disappoints. Get the chicken for sure but there are no bad empanadas. I repeat, no bad empanadas. You gotta try ‘em all! For the main course we selected the flagship Casado (skirt steak above all else) which was perfectly cooked especially for takeout. Irazu must be saved! Their takeout is just as good as their dine in. Pro tip reheat the hot portions of the dishes in the oven at 350. We did this for the skirt steak for about 9-10 min and did not overcook it.
