Lincoln Park Community Services Reviews | Rating 4.4 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Lincoln Park Community Services is located in Chicago, United States on 600 W Fullerton Pkwy. Lincoln Park Community Services is rated 4.4 out of 5 in the category homeless shelter in United States. LPCS brings communities together to empower individuals facing homelessness and poverty to secure stable housing and make sustainable life changes. Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS) is a not-for-profit Illinois corporation, founded in 1985 by members of four neighborhood churches: Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church, St. Clement Catholic Church, Church of Our Saviour Episcopalian, and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Still supported by these congregations and countless others, the LPCS provides a safe place to eat and sleep, and a targeted array of social services to help guests become self-sufficient. Since its inception, the LPCS has remained community-based and volunteer-driven. The LPCS is also a participant in the citywide effort to transform the homeless service system, through the “Getting Housed, Staying Housed” 10-year strategic plan to end homelessness. In June 2007, the LPCS opened its newly renovated Interim Housing Community, in line with this plan. In 2019, LPCS was able to expand again, this time into the Old Town neighborhood. Today, LPCS houses 83 Guests per night through our interim housing program, owns 20 affordable housing units, and 17 scattered-site permanent supportive housing units. Programs and Services: · Interim Housing · Daily Meals · Intensive Case Management · Recovery Meetings · Clothing, Showers & Laundry · Transportation Assistance · Telephone & Fax Usage · Voice Mail, Computer Lab · Mental Health Treatment, · Alcohol & Drug Treatment · Daily educational and support groups · Referrals to Housing · Referrals for Job Training

Abusive and hypocritical staff members who show favoritism. If you value both your own sanity and human rights, avoid these shelters like the plague. Two staff members in particular seemingly delight in gaslighting the guests who are clearly not their favorites.

This is hands down the best shelter for adults in Chicago. They have case managers on staff that provide help with obtaining and keeping housing. They help you save your money so you can afford an apartment on your own. Staff are very caring. Guests at the homeless shelter pay it forward by doing chores 3 to 4 times a week. There's lots of helpful classes that are run by qualified volunteers. Some of the classes include money management, classes about employment, etc... The facilities are really nice. There is a computer room where you can look for employment, a day community room where you can read, watch TV, converse with other people, or keep to yourself. The sleeping arrangements are separated by gender. Women are one side and men are on the other. There's bunk beds so it feels more private compared to other shelters. Even though it's located in a Church, this shelter isn't Religious based, nor do they make you pray for services like other homeless shelters in Chicago make you do for services. I highly recommend this shelter if you're willing to put in the effort to make your life better.
