I lived in the Middle East for 3 years and traveled exclusively through the Levant. Given my experience overseas, I can tell you that Mr. Shawarma is legit, and a must stop for any and all who want delicious Syrian-Lebanese Mediterranean food in Chicago. The owner is American and of Syrian descent, and his food is absolutely delicious! Look no further than “Mr. Shawarma.” Best Middle Eastern food I’ve had in Chicago. Better than Andes in Andersonville.

Delicious from start to finish. The meat was charred to perfection — maximum flavor but not burnt, which takes a careful eye. We got the vegetable plate and 4 way grill plate and it could easily have fed four people. Great value for how much you get. My only regret is that I forget to ask for hot sauce! Will definitely be returning soon.
Today for lunch I decided to try Mr. Shawarma based on great reviews & pictures. I had the Shawarma Mix, Vegetarian plate and Lentil soup. Customer service was very nice. Prices are expensive for the quality and quantity. Disappointed the few little scrapes of meat(chicken and beef) was hard & dry and rice lacked flavor. Lentil soup and hummus was fresh and delicious.

Amazing falafel!! Best I’ve had in the Chicago area and I’ve tried a lot! My fiancé is Jordanian and this is the best he’s had here in the states and it reminds him of falafel back in Jordan.!
I don't often write reviews but I have to for this place. The guys working there are so nice. I had the chicken shawarma sandwich, SO GOOD! They're very friendly and the food is great. Very affordable. Very nice to see more middle eastern food in Uptown! Sorry for the pic, I took a bite before taking the picture haha. Delicious!
Delicious, everything was so flavorful and fresh. Some of the best shawarma I've had, I will definitely be back for more
