We were hoping RCN was better than past experiences with At&t and Comcast but unfortunately, all 3 are exactly the same and a product of an industry trying to survive. I called to resolve 2 issues, one being a 20 jump in my monthly bill. I spoke with Damon and while he doesn't make the policies, he could sure use some training on empathy and not talking over customers. He conveyed part of the increase was due to my equipment rental charges increasing. I stated that I didn't receive new equipment, and my existing equipment isn't performing any better, so why would pricing increase. He chuckled and said it's the price of doing business, and that everything increases in every business. I explained that from an economic standpoint, this was incorrect. Interest rates dropped and now people are paying less for mortgages. Car insurance rates often decrease with good driving performance and customer loyalty. It's not Damon's fault, he's in the line of fire for a company in an industry that doesn't value customer loyalty. He explained my pricing will continue to increase unless I leave and go to a competitor, and then come back. In essence, RCN's customer loyalty program is to increase your pricing on an annual basis while not increasing service or value received, until you leave for a competitor, and potentially come back. The lesson in all of this is to be ready to jump from one carrier to another to take advantage of their first year \gotcha pricing...as Damon described it\, and then jump to the next, unless you're find absorbing increases for no better service.

Had RCN via condo contract for 5 years. Technical service was good. However when we moved we found the cable box had overheated, melting the plastic feet and ruining the surface of the new table we used. The box had to be pried off the table. We then contacted Rosemarie Wolski, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and sent her photos of the damage. She then sent 2 different technicians. Each was accompanied by our building engineer, and each talked to us over the phone in his presence. The first said that he had seen this damage before. We asked for a report but got nothing. We followed up with this technician 2-3 times without response. The second technician, Jeremy Silva, also saw the damage and asked what we wanted done. We said we wanted the table refinished. He asked if we could contact a refinisher and we said we could. We also asked him for a copy of his report, which we never received. After following up with Jeremy again he changed his story, saying that he couldn't be sure the RCN box caused the damage (although nothing else but the TV and the box had ever been on the table, and the melted footprints were clear). We contacted Wolski again and she said she had not received any reports. She then texted us telling us that the claim was denied without explanation. We finally received Jeremy's report, which differed significantly from the facts. In frustration we asked our building manager to contact the RCN account manager, who saw the damage, but said he could do nothing since the claim had been closed. We are now left with a seriously damaged 800 table. So much for the great customer service they claim.
We have had RCN for only 8 months and twice now have received \changes\ to our billing plan, meaning..... out of nowhere RCN says my current promo has ended and they up the bill 15 dollars to see if you noticed. There is no explanation given to why the promo ends, and when you call the service rep they will apologize for not explaining your your promo only lasts several months (when they originally tell you it lasts 12.) Both times this has happened I did not receive any sort of notice my billing would be changed. It is pretty lousy to have your internet company try to sneakily change your billing. Do not recommend.
Do not do business with RCN. Speed is slow as a turtle. If internet works for 1hour, next 3-4hours it doesn’t. When I called customer service representative said that they are working on it, but nothing has changed. Today I called to stop working with them , I was on the line more than 15min no one replied. Also price is too high it doesn’t fit the quality. Never suggest RCN. Can’t wait to change to xfinity
Cheap price. Had to call technician out multiple times but finally got a good one who saw the issue was the outside wiring. Once that was fixed the speeds were fantastic. I have had friends who have had similar experiences. Keep calling them out till you get your speeds you pay for!
