This is a beautiful church in the heart of Ukrainian Village. Went on a Sunday, and while I thought there would be more people it was a lovely experience. Very unique architecture and liturgy.

This cathedral was built by Ukrainian immigrants over 100 years ago. Just as they did wherever they settled, these poor immigrants first made sure they had their own church before they worked for their own material success. St. Nicholas Cathedral also has a school. On Saturdays that parochial school is used for Ukrainian Saturday School, where kids from K to 12 study their faith, the Ukrainian language, Ukrainian history, geography, literature, culture. Together with Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Church just one block South (get inside and take a look at the iconography), this is the very core of The Ukrainian Village in Chicago.
