Chicopee DPW seems to have policies that change with the whim of the driver and whoever answers the phone on any particular day. It's a constant battle between who is responsible for what. Trashmen will toss pizza boxes, certain plastic and empty 5 gallon ice melter buckets on the ground and into the yard saying it's all recycling. Meanwhile the ridiculous recycling company Chicopee's infernal town council contracted with will say those same items cannot be recycled and are all trash. No matter that the plastic bits and the bucket all have the numbers that the recycling company told us originally were recyclable and throw all those same items into the street and yard. The city wonders why illegal dumping has dramatically increased in Chicopee.

Some one took my recycle bin and left the cans, bottles and trash on the ground. DPW to the rescue. John Beaulieau ordered me up a new one right away and when I went to pick up the trash and put it back in it had already been done for me. Thanks to the worker that did that for me and thanks John for the quick response. Your department rocks!

On 12/17/2016 we had a 6 inch snow fall; 2 plows were clearing the streets in my neighborhood. There were cars parked on Cochran St.hindering the removal. One of those cars was parked in front of my house, the plows went by and unavoidably left more snow at the end of my driveway than they normally would have had that car not been parked where it was. As I continued to shovel my property the two plows came by again. This time the first plow stopped and successfully removed much of the snow that had been left at the end of my drive. He lifted snow away 2 or 3 times! Then the 2nd plow lifted his blade and came onto my driveway and up to the sidewalk. He then lowered his blade, reversed, and scraped the snow from the bottom of the driveway. These two men went out of their way to remove snow from my property. They are the absolute best!

Dpw Seems to be confused on who is responsible for pizza box pickup. Trash man argued that it's recyclable, taken out of trash and thrown on the ground... recycling company never takes pizza boxes.
