The only way to see the canyon! Great people and horses. Thanks James and Justin

I had just about zero experience on a horse before coming to Justin's Horse rental. But it was very easy. They just put you on a horse and you go. I do wish that they explained a little more about the basics of riding a horse before putting you on. My friends horse started to take off on him at one point and the guide had to yell at him to pull back and push your feet forward. I know those are basics, but my friend had zero experience on horses and knew almost nothing about them. Would have been nice to just get at least a 5 minute rundown on what to do if that happens. Honestly though, this tour was so beautiful and magical, I can't even knock off a star for it. Going inside the Canyon on horseback was one of those experiences you never forget. Our guide was very kind and we had a lot of good conversation with him. He said many of the Navajo don't like when you take pictures of them during the tour, but he didn't mind. Would recommend going for a horseback tour to anyone. It really is a magical experience and a one of a kind place on this planet.

My second time in the Canyon by horse, it's a no brainier if you're choosing between horse and Jeep. From the horseback you'll get real close to the highlights of the canyon and have fun at it. The tour will adapt to your skill-level, horses are excellent and knows what is expected of them. Really nice guide! I've spent many weeks road tripping in the US and this is my favourite stop!

Sorry to have to give this only two stars. My family thoroughly enjoyed our tour through Canyon De Chelly on horseback. The canyon, scenery and overall feeling was incredible. The issue I have is a quiet scam that's taking place. When we arrived, we overheard a previous tourist politely arguing with the guide about the cost. We didn't think much of it until our tour ended and it was time to pay the guide. He stretched the time out (they charge by the hour) in deliberate ways during our tour, leaving us with no option but to pay the addition cost at the end. Not the price that was agreed on before our tour began. We felt shnookered, but really didn't have any recourse, despite the fact that I repeatedly asked him if we could keep riding rather than him stop and drag out the tour with irrelevant conversation. Visit the beautiful canyon, but be aware if you do a horseback tour.

I highly recommend. Our horse ride in the canyon will stay in our family memories for a long time. Staff was nice and gave us good explanations.
