I have known Adam since he first started his shop. I have one of the prototypes of the Tone Philosopher 40 Watts. As a matter of fact I have two of them. Because they sound great, are built like a tank and are versatile as hell. I have taken an old JCM800 to him. He souped it up in a timely manner at a good price and it sounded great. He also took an old '73 twin I had and did the same thing to it. Adam is the owner and only technician. I see in the other reviews people complain that he seemed to busy to take care of them the way they felt was appropriate. The key is they said he was too busy. There is a reason for that. End of story.

This guy repaired my 1969 Fender Super Reverb, and it sounds better than ever. His knowledge of the classic circuit designs is essential for classic amps. My repairs were finished quickly and communication was excellent. I highly recommend Chrome Dome!
Chrome Dome is a tube guitar amp shop specifically. Everyone leaves with the same message. If you have a problem let us know! Pretty simple. All this being said, I have pioneered the art of firing customers. I don't do nonsense. So I fully expect to see some people complaining. I wouldn't be holding up my end if it wasn't the case.
Got a broken amp or looking for a kick ass new one that is original unlike the rest, this is your one and only stop shop. This is a specialty shop for tube amp fans. You will not find anyone else that can do what this guy does. For the twats that are complaining, well all I can say is some people are just born "special", and some more then others.
There is only one guy in this region that knows circuits like this. His designs sound amazing and his ability to fix factory errors is astounding.
An overall bad experience: incompetent workmanship, unprofessional communication, and a condescending attitude. He had my amp for 3 months total. Brought in my Tube/SS hybrid amp with only a mild distortion for a bias adjustment. If it’s not done correctly you can cause it to blow up. Picked it up, plugged it in and it blew up—smoked and sparked. He had it for another 4 weeks. Completion date passed with unreturned calls and emails. Finally got an email response to a simple inquiry of a finish date, saying that I was welcome to take it elsewhere and to “wait to be contacted”. This is after multiple delays and no communication. Got another email blaming me for his faulty repair work and that I must have “thrown it down the stairs”. Nonsense. Finally I was told that he was done “messing with it”, and to come pick it up, now nonfunctional. Made an over-30-minute drive to find a sign on the door saying they’d closed early. Made another wasted trip—again not there. After 3 months total, I asked him to stand behind his work. I managed to get a refund and received my amp back now totally broken. And this was after he threatened to remove a few installed parts worth about 10 (he didn’t, but most were burnt-up and destroyed anyway from his “service”). After that refund, I’m now out an additional 100 to fix his damage at another shop. During all of this waiting, I bought another amp head off of Craigslist. The guy I bought it from said his son also had a bad experience at Chrome Dome. He had picked up his amp in worse condition than when he brought it in. And he experienced poor attitude and service. If you want to bring an amp in for an adjustment and tune-up and get it back broken, make wasted trips, have calls go unanswered and unreturned, and deal with an unprofessional attitude, this is your guy.
Poor communication and unprofessional customer service. My amp worked better before I took it here.
