BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!! TLDR: Was sent 1 sick fish and 1 wrong fish, was promised a refund & now the owner is MIA. About a year ago I purchased a Beta from this company it it was stunning. Took a little while to ship but when it shipped from CA to NY it was still healthy and happy. Great fins, Bright colors, looked just like the photo. I was so satisfied with our purchase, I bought two more this past December. This time was not such a great experience. While my credit card was charged the moment I placed the order, its took 2 days to receive any form of confirmation. About a week after that I get an email stating that the shipment was delayed 7 - 10 days. A week after that it finally shipped and both fish arrived within 48 hours. The first thing I notice is one of the betas has blue tinted water and the other does not. (Usually these dyes are seen with bacterial or parasite treatments) The next thing I notice is the fish with the clear water is not what I ordered - similar but not the same fish. So I now have a sick with with shredded fins and an incorrect and disappointing fish. I reached out to the company to inform them and ask what should we do, they extremely quick to respond and offered me a refund. While I was extremely sad to now have to spend more money on treatments to heal this fish and did not receive what I wanted, I was grateful for the professionalism and customer service. To my disappointment - this never happened. It has now been over two months. I have not received said refund. The company will not call or email me or my bank back. They've completely ghosted me without the compensation promised. I will never recommend anyone purchase from this company. Not worth the risk. Not worth the blatant disregard. First time I bought Albino Full Red Guppy on Thanksgiving 2020. All are superstar. Less than a week after placed the order I received a fish. That is awesome from CA to NY. Then I bought again, first week Dec 2020. Communication is very lack, fish arrived middle Jan 2021 in all 7 fishes are dead condition. Received a credit after fews email. After received a credit and had exchange email I decided paying a shipping cost for replacement. All is set on Jan 16 2021 received a fish Mar 1 2021 with another 2 dead. No answer yet from the company regarding this matter. To be fair the Albino Full Red Guppy all are very beautiful. Totally Red not like others seller claim Red but Orange. This is the only superstar.

This is the first time I have left a review but I felt very strongly about making sure these guys got a great review on their customer service. I ordered 5 Betta and they were shipped out very quickly, and through no fault of Coast Gem, the shipper did an absolutely horrible job, and due to their multiple errors all of my fish arrived dead. I sent and email to Coast Gem before the fish arrived and let them know what was going on and within 5 minutes of sending my email, they called me, on a Saturday, at 7:55 PM! I am a small business owner myself and I was extremely impressed with the dedication this man had to customer service and making I had all the information I needed. Fast forward to today, my fish arrived from the shipper (4 days later than what they should have been) and unfortunately none of them made it, again through no fault of Coast Gem. I called the company and they answered their phone right away and they took full responsibility and made sure I was completely taken care of . Even though the outcome for my fish was not good, I can tell they have stunning fish and I can't say enough good things about the way Coast Gem handled the situation. I will absolutely be ordering from them again in the future and look forward to seeing these fish in my aquariums.

The goldfish they have are beautiful. Between my friend and I we have ordered 6 goldfish and all arrived alive. That being said, all the fish from my last 2 orders have had parasites. Fish lice specifically. If you are going to order from here QUARANTINE your new fish thoroughly. I unfortunately learned the hard way and lost one of my other babies due to a disease that was brought in from the new fish. Lastly forget about getting in touch with them. They did cancel one of my orders because the fish I had picked wasn't swimming well, and I appreciate that. But they absolutely never respond to their emails. Their phone rings once and then disconnects you.

Unfortunate to say, I bought a school of 8 Rainbow fish and the day I brought them home one of them had a bad swim bladder and couldn’t swim right. The next day he was worse so I took him back and whom I believe to be the owner’s son gave me a refund. When I got home I noticed another fish swimming funny too and so I kept an eye on him. By afternoon next day he was lying on the bottom of the tank while the other 6 remaining rainbows were fine. I felt like these were a bad batch considering the first one was sick right out of the box so I returned to the shop that night only to have the owner, Mr. Pong, refuse to give me a refund for the second sick fish and told me HE DOES NOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING ONCE IT LEAVES HIS SHOP. That I can understand but not when you sell me a sick fish. I documented the decline of both fish since day one and I have footage of the remaining 6 swimming normally but he refused to watch any of it, which is sad considering I’ve been a customer there for years. He does not appreciate customer loyalty or care about his business. Very sad day. Especially since each Rainbow was not cheap. I was always aware of the bad reviews on here and always did my best to give him the benefit of the doubt but EVERYTHING YOU READ ON HERE IS TRUE. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SOUTH COAST GEMS. I never want to see a small business go down but the longer they remain in business the more people will have bad experiences like mine. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. Sorry Mr. Pong, but I will save my money, time, and pain and be doing my shopping at Aquarium Fish Depot or Pet Zone. It’s a longer drive but they know how to treat their customers and care for their fish.
