I was lucky enough to actually be part of the first large group to visit the muesum, before it's completely open to the public. And if you're a boy scout, especially an eagle, and you find yourself in Philmont be sure to give this place a visit. Scouting's history was really neat to learn about, and it's just cool to look through scouting's past.

Think you'll be able to access all that beautiful wilderness once owned by the citizens of New Mexico? Think again. It's all private.
A must see when in Cimarron or at Philmont. Scouting history! The first Eagle Scout award on display. It was an honor to see it.
Came here with my cub scout, but my wife and older son have come here for years to take classes and earn merit badges. This a great and little used resource for National Boy Scouts of America. There are videos and historic artifacts from BSA including interactive exhibits for scouts of all ages. There's always room for building a little fun in scouting every day!
So glad we got to go before they move. Lots of interesting items and fun for the kids.
