We ordered a gas fireplace insert in early Fall 2020, and knowing many were having home remodeling work done, we were quoted a Dec 23rd installation date. They called the week of scheduled installation and told us they needed to move to the following week, which was not a big deal. The individual doing the installation did not wear a mask nor did he offer to wear one (despite my husband wearing one when answering the door) when Covid cases were peaking at record levels, which was very uncomfortable. The fireplace was wonderful, but it worked for less than a day. The day after installation, the remote no longer controlled the system. We can turn on the fire manually, but cannot control the level of the flame, nor does the fan work. We called Vonderhaar immediately, and they told us they would take care of looking into it. 10 days later, no word, so called back and scheduled the repair - another two weeks later. The day before the scheduled repair, they called due to their technician possibly being exposed to Covid (which we understand), but the next available date was three weeks later. We’re scheduled for repair tomorrow, but I expect the snow may push it again. We’re nearly two months post original installation date without a working fireplace. We love the concept of the fireplace, but the process and overall execution has been downright frustrating.

We live in a house built in the 1940s that was built with a wood burning fireplace and for the longest time, this wasn't a problem. However, as time went on, I developed several degenerative lung issues that in time will be terminal. The original fireplace was not built to typical dimensions so while the bulk of the smoke vented out the chimney, some of it vented into the house which would exacerbate my lung conditions. So for the last 7 years, our hearth has remained cold to protect my lungs. But I grew up having fires and our house just didnt feel like a home without a fire in the fireplace in the winter over the holidays. So this year, shortly before Thanksgiving we called Vonderhaar for a consult to see if there were any options we could consider. For our consult, the owner of the company Greg Vonderhaar showed up with one of his employees. We explained my health issues to him and he told use that switching to a gas burning fireplace, even though we had always used wood, would be the best way for us to have fires again while not harming my lungs. They did an inspection and we got the ball rolling. They even got the new fireplace installed before Christmas so we could enjoy fires through the holidays and on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Vonderhaar gave us more than a fireplace we could use again, they gave us great family memories over the holidays in front of the fireplace which is priceless. Now, almost every cool night we have a fire in our hearth. Best call I ever made and best money ever spent. Thank you Greg Vonderhaar!

Cory and Colin are excellent and professional. They arrived with drop cloths and vacuums. We got gas logs. They said primarily decorative and 2% of heat. They certainly are decorative,but warm and comfy as well. The dogs love it. I trust Vonderhaar.

Vonderhaar has completely taken care of me. My chimney was blown off my house (yes, off my house) in my side yard in gusty wind. Vonderhaar came to my house, removed the chimney from my side yard, fixed the chimney and roof, and replaced the wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace. They stayed extra time to tile the new fireplace and put up a beautiful mantle. I was going to do the tile and mantle on my own, but they had done such a great job, I had them do it. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes my family room look amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. The staff was absolutely AMAZING and went out of their way to get me what I needed. Thank you Vonderhaar for everything you have done!!!
