My son use to work there. Both his wife and I begged him to get another job. He was able to do that. I went in a few times to give him treats in the winter months. I told him the fumes were probably the reason he got bronchitis every winter. He said OSHA took readings and said they were fine. I asked if they did it in the summer with the doors open or in the winter when they were closed. He didn't answer. When working the machine that spools, he had to cut the twine, remove the spool, place another spool and wrap the twine coming out of the machine on that new spool without stopping the machine. One time the twine developed a knot, flipped and grabbed his wrist, breaking it. He was able to backhand the emergency button with his other hand, stopping the machine. He said if he missed it, he would have been killed by being wrapped around the spool as it spun around. Those spools come close to the ground at the bottom. Because he could not work, he was laid off. Then when he could go back to work, he was hired back day shift. Not being a night lead, he made less (night shift makes more and being a lead more in addition). The day time supervisor back then was a nightmare. My son was eventually able to get back on nights and as a lead. He was injured again, but not badly enough to be life-threatening. But knowing the danger and I saw for myself his working conditions, I wanted him out of there. This place will hire people without diplomas or GEDs. At least the day time supervisor knows this and treatment of employees can be much less than caring, including for their safety. I know someone whose son was hurt and if he left to get stitches, he would be fired (it was his last day when he went to emergency). Then her other son lost his life there. I have encouraged her to post here.
Employee there. Good job. I'm grateful for.
Pay is low for the work you do. The job itself can be dangerous and you only get a couple hours of training, sometimes a little more. The hours are nice and some what flexible, if you like 12 hour shifts. You cant afford a family working here unless you put in 80 hours a week or are a supervisor.
I work here and had to make my own tool to make my job easier the twine from here is better all around
Best Darn TWINE in the planet!
