PROS: - gorgeous hardwood floors in the living room (only) - close to downtown Wheaton - access to the Prairie Path is across the street - easy access to the College Avenue train station - price (super affordable! One bedroom 795) CONS: - location (railroad runs along side/front of buildings!) - cockroaches (and other bugs!) - no central AC - drafty - not very big: the kitchen is especially small - parking: only 1 parking spot per apartment. guests or a roommate/significant other with a second car must park in train parking lot or on the street during the free parking hours - tenants are allowed to smoke outside their apartment so my bedroom always smelled like weed and my living smelled like cigarettes - the wooden walkway outside the second floor apartments are deteriorating - management's idea of \cleaning\ the apartment is slapping on a coat of paint: my dishes and kitchenware constantly got stuck to the cabinets with the layers of paint and there is paint permanently stuck to them - management is very rude: I assumed that since they had a heavy accent from another country, it was a cultural thing, but everyone I spoke to was rude - maintenance is effective, but when sewage backed up into my tub on a Saturday they gave me a hard time--telling me to plunge it or if it could wait until Monday - when I found someone to sublet for me, they repainted the apartment--charging me 75 an hour--in order to paint the walls all one color (when they were the ones who painted them in the first place) - getting my deposit back was a nightmare. I agree with the other reviewer here; I got yelled at and hung up on because they didn't want to send my deposit to my forwarding address--they kept sending it to the College Avenue apartment I had vacated because they \follow the law\ (as they repeatedly said on the phone, defensively) BOTTOM LINE: You get what you pay for. Yes, the price is nice, but you pay for the difference in other ways. Proceed with caution.

The owner is just a straight up jack wagon. I've never had an owner yell at me over the phone because I was trying to discuss with him that I was leaving at the end of my lease and not renewing my contract. I paid the last month. Owner says we'll try to lease it so you don't have to pay two rents since I was starting at another apt. a month before my lease ended at the old place. Never happened... Management speaks broken English so in a nutshell it's hard to communicate. Thin walls, so you can hear everything.... When I notified them that the cold weather caused a crack in the BR window they said don't worry about it. That's normal wear and tear. Upon receiving my security deposit back I got a nice little bill for 281.23 dollars for window replacement. Labor was 225 for 3 hours. You do the math... Do not rent from these people. They will come off as nice just to get your business, but in the end it's just sour grapes. There's a reason why it's 775 a month to live in those apartments.
If you like bed bugs and a negligent, criminal staff entering your home without your knowledge or consent for non-emergency reasons, this is the place for you. Don't be fooled by the appearance and rent. The INFERIOR \management\ is outright schizophrenic. I have pictures, videos and witnesses to support this statement. The are being sued and are not properly taxed on their real estate. Once they are correctly taxed, the rent, I'm sure, will go up while the poor, criminal \management\ will likely stay horrible. If you like abuse, infestation, neglect and breaking-and-entering in home that you pay for, please live here because that is what you will be signing up for.
