Gothik Extravaganza

I was there in time for 4pm mass. They sang a couple of familiar Christmas hymns, read from Isaiah, Ephesians & Matthew as well as eulogized while the congregation repeated chants. Very ornate aesthetics, not the first visit & likely not the last either. All in all it was a great service, though I remain steadfast with my own faith within the LDS church.

Although the Cathedral itself is gorgeous, it is difficult to enter during the week. I have attempted several times to find them closed, not on "snow days" prior to 5 P.M. Access to a chapel should be 24-hours a day at the diocese flagship. At least after a traditional work day. You never know when a soul needs some guidance or healing. I understand the potential for criminal elements in the area but, that's why a simple chapel instead of full access to the cathedral would make sense. Mass is nice, sermons are wonderful and the congregation friendly. Currently my favorite in Colorado Springs.
