I had finished a long period of online research and was looking to buy Magnepan speakers. I found out that upstairs audio is a dealer through the Magnepan website. I was debating getting a pair of LRS and when I saw a post on their facebook I knew what I had to do. I called and the person I talked to knew all about the Magnepan line and was offering a lot of information about the differences between all of the different models and the prices. I could tell he was very knowledgeable and was trying to guide me and make sure I had what I needed to run the LRS. I'm more of an internet researcher and didn't need any kind of support, but I felt like if I knew absolutely nothing he would have really came through for me and helped me get started for sure. I ended up doing a curbside COVID-19 style transaction and he was very accommodating. I love the Magnepan LRS. I bought them blind without listening and was immediately thrilled when I heard them. Now months later after lots of experimenting with placement, the excitement I had when I first got them is still the same. I enjoy them every day. I run mine in a 2.1 setup with an 18in unported subwoofer that I built. Absolutely satisfying with any genre of music. Magnepans almost seem like magic. The holographic soundstage and the strong phantom center image is incredible. Also the beautiful timbre of the instruments that sounds incredibly realistic. It's like VR for sound. One day I will try some Magnpans higher up in the lineup and I know where I will get them!

Upstairs A/V is a gem in the modern day where most only have the option of buying online or in overpriced big-box electronics stores run by unknowledgeable employees. I was suprised to find that the price I paid here for a Grado turntable cartridge was the same as the lowest price I found online. I noticed several other items were very well priced. I am always willing to pay an extra 10% or so when buying an item from a small business, but their competitive pricing is very much appreciated! They have a wide selection of aftermarket, inexpensive styli which is good for the laid back listener. They always have a small collection of used equipment and records which makes stopping by the store intermittently a fun experience. What matters most to me is the expertise of the employees in a small, specialized shop like this. My experience with Bobby was very positive and all of my audio related inquisitions were answered. I walked out with the items I wanted and with the knowledge I was hoping to gain. Go support Upstairs A/V!
