Located in Erie County in northwest Pennsylvania, the Corry Hi-Ed is one of nine “Community Education Councils” funded by the Commonwealth through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, to make adult education and workforce training available to their communities. Established in 1991 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Hi-Ed facilitates the availability of programs from partner schools and training organizations, and creates its own programming as needed. The goal is to provide a “ladder” of educational opportunity, so that there is a rung of the ladder for each individual to step onto in their quest for lifelong learning. This can include preparation for a high school equivalency test, computer training, workforce training programs, personal enrichment, or a college degree.
