This was a family friendly small museum with beautiful grounds. Very beautiful Pulmeria Flowers were in full bloom. An inexpensive museum asking for small donation or low cost entrance fee. This Museum is very close to the beaches and some restaurants.
Wow! When my folks were in town, I took them here to experience a little bit of history in our Sunshine State. It really shows an excellent historical account of years past in the Florida fishing village of Cortez. The different types of fishing boats used to bring in the catch really peeked my interest! Sadly, you will certainly have all kinds of emotions for the difficulties, hardship and challenge to survive by relying on a fishing occupation in the late 1800's. It's good ole Florida history!
This was the first time that we went and to tell you the truth it was very interesting. The flea market wasn't bad either, there was old items and new items all in the nautical theme. The entertainment was good also. The museum was interesting and the work she'd is amazingly great. I suggest that you go next year. The flea market will be the only spending that will be there.
Good stop in Cortez for some local history and info about the centuries of fishing in the area. Many examples of sea life and related artifacts. Free admission and clean restrooms make it all the better. Small gift shop has some books and items geared toward kids.
