Recently purchased the 8' windmill. Talked to a company representative on May 28, 2020. Ask about the durability of the windmill operating in higher winds. Was told the windmill is decorative. The packing box indicates the windmill shows wind direction and wind speed. Thus besides being decorative is also functional. As it has moving parts. Particularly since the device has a grease zerk for the main bearing which requires occasional attention. Anything that is 8' tall will most likely be subjected to wind. Was told no studies have been made for higher wind operation. Will this device become a dangerous liability do to failure as a result of higher wind operation over time? Again, was told the windmill is decorative. Not an acceptable answer. The device has no governor or shut off capability. The only warning (assembly instructions) is for chemical(s) used in the manufacturing. (State of California) Otherwise is decorative and fun to have in the yard.

Purchased an 8-foot windmill from a local retailer less than 1 year ago. The windmill has been repaired at least twice and just recently completely fell apart, this includes replacing the bearings after less than one month. Contacted the manufacturer and they proceeded to tell me that all they could do is sell me replacement parts. They do not cover any of their product past the 30 day warranty. I would not recommend this product to anyone. We have not experienced any out of the ordinary weather to cause stress to the product, literally just normal wear and tear.
