Scheduled a tour (covid regulations) by your only, you can but tickets online and reserve your 45 min. Personal tour. You get a much better idea of how it was when it was open. And we had the sweetest and most informative tour guide. Young girl with colorful hair, you could really tell she lived her job and the history of the building! Love this place! It's a must visit!

our tour guide, she was super detailed...lacking in the local haunting legends. wish you could experience what it felt like to be inside one of the cells

What an awesome place to visit. This historical site was so interesting and an awesome learning experience. I have never heard of this place ever before. There are three locations one in Indiana that the actual cage still turns, the one in Missouri does not turn and the one in Iowa does not turn. But doing a complete walk-through of all four levels of the jailI and seeing and experiencing what these inmates experienced was amazing. It’s a part of history that everybody should see and learn about. I never knew this existed. The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. To learn that they even have juveniles and women housed here is amazing. And the fact that the warden and his wife lived at the top and that the wife would cook for the inmates is mind blowing. It’s definitely a historical site you need to visit.

We visited the jail for a paranormal investigation on a Friday night. I was very impressed with how well kept the building is, how clean it was, and how great Kat did of giving us a tour and sharing info. I would definitely recommend this jail to anybody- whether you're looking for ghosts or just interested in a unique piece of history. We need to continue to support this organization so we don't lose this relic.
