The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant and the lumber is exceptional. Only four stars because the hours are not friendly to homeowners; one day with evening hours would be beneficial to DIYers.

We've gone to Cowls ever since we moved to Amherst in 1999. The quality of the products and the friendly knowledgeable service are unrivaled. The prices at the big box stores are not better, and the value at Cowls vastly outstrips that of the big box stores. We have purchased tools, lumber, and basic hardware, and also doors, windows, and our entire kitchen (cabinets, counters, island, etc). Cowls has my highest recommendation.
