The stars were beautiful and it was perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. It was free to stay for a couple hours but donations were appreciated. If staying for just a couple of hours park along side the road so you wont blind folks with your headlights when leaving!

Really enjoy this place. Just about the darkest sky location in the Southeast. There are still a few light domes, however, so an IR Cut filter is probably necessary for photography. Do also be aware that there is a good deal of air traffic overhead, so watch for plane lights before hitting the shutter! Greer field has some concrete pads with simple enough vehicle access, though do please remember to turn off all running lights and interior lights before attempting to drive on the property. These pads have electrical outlets on the fence posts adjacent. If you need to warm up a bit, the clubhouse by the pavilion usually has a heater or two inside and is red-lit for preservation of night vision. The on-site properties are also under covenant to allow only red lights as well, so the whole village does a great job of keeping you from getting unexpectedly blinded.

PSA the milk way doesn't have colors! It's just grey/whiteish don't be fooled by these photos! Clean bathrooms and there's hot chocolate and water in the cabin. I suggest staying in the warm cabin in the colder months because my friends and I could barely sleep at night the temp dropped a lot. The bathrooms were clean and there's also a shower in it. There's also a pavilion to eat and grills.

Great place! If you're into astronomy or astrophotography, this is the place to be. Dark skies, power, WiFi, bathrooms with showers!
