This is definitely a fun school to be in. All the teachers support me and help me with things I don't understand and every group that I'm a part of, such as band, stage crew (or theater in general), German, any clubs of any sort, all of it feels like a family. Everyone's interactive, fun, and helpful. I'm proud to call this place my school and my home.

The Evil Panda

Dean Levitt threatened to suspend us for crossing school property after school hours when we were on school grounds with a walking stick. He was afraid we were going to beat someone with it even though none of us had that kind of track record. Glad Levitt was gone for my last year there.

Algonquin Resident

Big drug problem they keep denying. Their football team is dragged down by Chuck Ahsmann, who uses his cancer to get sympathy and money....pretty sick. Parents have been trying to get enough signatures to oust him as head coach, but to many are concerned with the school retaliating. Last year one of the star football players had an obvious drug problem and during practice Ahsmann would ignore the obvious. He was good and the good ones are kept in, sometimes to play all 4. Lousy coaching and the push for the selected players has led to taking drugs and using steroids. I got an A in a class because my math teacher always wanted to talk about football. It was fun to get out of math, but flunked my freshman course in college because I had no clue. My parents moved so my younger siblings wouldn't go to South and about 8 other friends of my parents moved to another area, away from South because it's so bad. Also, one of our old neighbors went to South in the 80's and knew Ahsmann's wife when she went there. He said Ahsmann started dating his now wife when she was underage and he first started teaching at South. Another reason not to trust the guy - sick.
