Just a beautiful state park a nice getaway to get out and enjoy multiple ponds, hiking trails and the lake is calm as it is soothing....a nice safe swimming experience for children as well

Always a good place to get away. Has places to camp or get a cabin. Plenty of trails to hike and lakes to fish in.

Beautiful, rustic trails. Solitude (when it isn't hunting season). Swinging Bridges.

We absolutely love Cumberland State Forest. It has a great central location, miles and miles of forest roads, numerous picturesque ponds for fishing, miles of hiking trails, and some of the darkest skies in central Virginia.

The Willis River Trail is a great place for a winter hike. It's not a loop so you either have yo hike out and back or go with a buddy and have then oark their vehicle at the other end. If there is snow then bring Yaktrax or some other form of traction assistance.
