After researching all of the options in the LA area for my open water diving certification, I went with Beach Cities Dive Center and was not disappointed. The course takes place over two consecutive weekends, with written materials and videos to review beforehand. Each weekend starts with a day in the pool to learn skills followed by a day in the ocean putting those skills into practice. My class dove Catalina and Anacapa, and both were awesome.

Earlier this year I went to Beach Cities Scuba with a friend before being certified to look at gear. They actually had put together an awesome package. I walked away though. Not for any real negative reason, just because at the time I wasn't ready to drop the money on all the equipment. I stopped by today to just check out the store again and see what they have compared to my usual store. Kyle remembered me from 6 months ago! I was kinda embarrassed, but pleasantly surprised that he did remember me. We got talking about dive gear and lights. He showed me several different ones comparing the beam pattern, the switches, warranty, etc. Sure enough I ended up buying the light. Not because he pressured me or tried to claim this was the best light in the world. He just gave me the facts. What I didn't expect was the discount he gave me. Just a little thank you! Well I am a convert. It's the people that make the difference. Kyle explained the differences between the lights and then we got onto regulators. He explained the differences between a couple of manufactures. I was impressed with his overall knowledge of the equipment. He knows the equipment.inside and out. I would recommend that you check out the store and go see Kyle for any questions on gear.

This is my local dive store. Go there weekly for air and nitrox fills. They let me store my tanks there for a few days at a time. And they always do a great job of filling my tanks. They have a pool on site and have done a great job of getting my daughter certified to dive.
