We finally got to try De Dao tonight and, quite frankly, I'm disappointed we waited this long! The majority of the menu is traditional Hunanese Chinese food- a far cry from the over sauced, heavy Americanized Chinese food. I had delayed trying the restaurant out because I was concerned our 5- and 2-yr-old wouldn't find something on the menu to eat, so we ordered some steamed rice as a backup plan. Turns out they both loved the soup dumplings, pork belly with steamed buns, and cucumber salad (they ate rice too, of course)! The food was made fresh, came out as it was ready, and was served family-style. The owner was very personable and helpful in explaining the menu and she is also a talented painter (her at decorates the restaurant). We loved everything we tried and we will definitely be returning. They also have a take out option which will be helpful on nights the kids can't handle a sit-down restaurant. This place is amazing food came out fast with friendly service! Food was fresh and amazing even our children with ages ranging from 2 to 7 all enjoyed themselves. Bathrooms were very clean and tidy and well stocked and be prepared to come hungry because the portions are big! We will be back and will suggest to friends!! Give it a try!!
De Dao provides the most authentic Hunan Chinese food you can find in Houston. Our restaurant looks modern and beautiful with 30 oil paintings painted by the owner. I highly recommend this restaurant to you and your friends. Please come to De Dao to enjoy our delicious food and have a wonderful time here.
A place that all should at least try once if you like to try different types of food. Great food, different flavors of China. Definately going to come back here again! It's a must!
Fantastic! The steamed buns were perfect, not wet or sticky, but perfect. The pork belly melted and was so flavorful. The soup dumplings were exactly right. We’ve had food in Korea and in Singapore. This is what it’s supposed to taste like.
AMAZING.... Braised pork and the potato dish went so well together. We were seated right a way, ordered our food and only had to wait 5min to receive it. Food was tasty and serves was fast. Highly recommend trying this hidden gem in cypress.

My husband and I just ate at De Dao for the first time last weekend. The food was delicious and the staff was super nice and friendly. We had the ribs, the wrap and the pork potstickers which were AMAZING. We will definitely be back!
